Software and SaaS recruiting.
Start with the work.

The product, its customers, and the way your team ships software shape the search. Define ownership and outcomes before you settle on a job title.

Hire product engineers around ownership

A product engineering search starts with the customer problem and the part of the product the hire will own. A frontend, backend, or full-stack label alone does not explain the decisions or delivery expected.

Describe the codebase, product stage, release process, and partners the engineer works with. Separate required experience from tools your team can teach.

Experience to discuss
Production software, system design, testing, and work carried from a customer need through release.
A useful interview question
Which part of a product did you own, and how did customer feedback change what you shipped?

Separate cloud platform work from product work

Cloud and platform engineers build and operate the systems product teams depend on. Reliability work may include deployment, observability, incident response, access controls, or cloud costs. Name the responsibilities this hire will own.

Explain your current architecture and the problems behind the opening. Distinguish hands-on platform development from infrastructure maintenance, and set expectations for on-call work before interviews begin.

Experience to discuss
Infrastructure as code, cloud networking, deployment systems, observability, or incident response, based on the role.
A useful interview question
Tell me about a reliability issue you owned. How did you find the cause and change the system?

Define the integration boundary

Customer integration roles connect a product to the systems a customer already uses. The work can involve APIs, identity, data mapping, deployment, and debugging across organizational boundaries.

List the systems, interfaces, and customer-facing work involved. Decide whether the role primarily builds reusable product integrations, delivers customer-specific implementations, or supports both.

Experience to discuss
API design, authentication, data exchange, production troubleshooting, and clear communication with customer teams.
A useful interview question
Describe an integration that failed across two systems. How did you isolate the issue and agree on a fix?

Set the technical leader's decision scope

A technical leader needs a clear remit across product direction, architecture, people, and delivery. The right mix depends on whether the company needs a hands-on lead, a manager, or an executive who can build the engineering function.

Agree on the decisions the hire can make, the teams they will lead, and the outcomes expected in the first year. Keep the search focused on evidence of that scope, not title alone.

Experience to discuss
Technical decisions tied to product needs, team development, delivery planning, and communication with company leadership.
A useful interview question
What technical direction did you set, who did it affect, and how did you know it was working?
